Stay in La Rochelle

Weekends and holidays by the sea

Come and discover La Rochelle, located on the Atlantic coast and just off the Pertuis d’Antioche. Every year, countless holidaymakers come to see this age-old town brimming with a rich historic, cultural and urban heritage.

La Rochelle is a real open-air museum. Stroll through the historic centre of the town and admire its architectural treasures, a testimony to centuries of history. As you walk down the streets, you’ll find all eras are represented, from the Middle Ages with its arcade-lined streets and timber-framed houses to the 18th century with its grand townhouses, not to mention the Renaissance and the modern era. Indeed, there’s a gem round every street corner!

Things to not miss include the clock tower of the Grosse Horloge, the arcade-lined streets, the Vieux Port, the towers, the Maison Henri II, the Hotel de la Bourse, the La Rochelle bunker and the Aquarium.

Once evening rolls in, it’s time for some fun and some partying. Throughout the year, La Rochelle hosts and organises a range of cultural events, including the Francofolies music festival, the International Film Festival, the International Adventure Film Festival and the Grand Pavois (one of the top 5 in-water boat shows in the world).
